Initiated through a partnership with the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in downtown Riverside, the signage program rapidly expanded with the backing of UCR CHASS Dean's Office and Riverside Downtown Partnership. The locations encompassed Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, UCR CHASS Dean's Office, UCR Office of the President, Riverside Marriott, UCR Palm Desert Campus Conference Center, UCR Extensions Center, Riverside City Hall, and Ultrastar Riverside. Over time, the signage program evolved beyond its initial focus on UCR ARTSblock events, extending its coverage to include arts and culture events for other local museums, downtown events, and performing art venues.

The digital signage system used Flash Player that is designed to play Flash Streaming Video (FLV), MP3 Music and Images (JPG, GIF, PNG) along with text.  The player receives its information from a query issued to a central event and calendaring FileMaker Pro database.  UCR ARTSblock, UCR/CMP and Sweeney Art Gallery websites also use this central event calendar thereby keeping calendaring information up to date.
