On view at Cal State Fullerton’s Begovich Gallery project space in conjunction with Metadataphile: The Collapse of Visual Information. Curator Jennifer Frias invited four artists to transform and re-contextualize Cory Arcangel’s Super Mario Bros clouds. Cory Arcangel has produced a variety of Nintendo Video Game hacks, among them is Super Mario Clouds. Also here is Cory Arcangel’s Super Mario Bros Clouds hack: http://www.coryarcangel.com/things-i-made/SuperMarioClouds
In the spirit of this project my incorporation of the Super Mario Bros clouds borderlines on childish as I attempt to create a cloudy sky by cutting out over a hundred Super Mario shaped clouds out of construction paper. One doesn’t quite know if I am trying to make the perfect Super Mario Bros cloud or am trying to play a game with myself of slowly filling in the sky.
